Episode 3: La Palapa

In our 3rd Episode, the Eatsburgh team visited La Palapa, a Mexican restaurant in the Southside area of Pittsburgh.

The restaurant, which is known for its
mezcal bar and Mexican cuisine, offers a wide variety of traditional Mexican dishes from different parts of Mexico.

Beyond the food, the restaurant offers a rich history and a fascinating story behind its founding. To learn more about the story of both the restaurant and its owners, we talked to the owners of La Palapa, Oscar and Jesus.

Oscar and Jesus

During our conversation, Oscar and Jesus kindly shared several stories about both the restaurant and themselves.

We talked about everything from how Oscar and Jesus met, to the folk art from Mexico that decorates the restaurant.

Oscar and Jesus also discussed some of the challenges they encountered while managing La Palapa, and how they approached these challenges.

Through our conversation, we also learned about the all the hard work that goes into running a restaurant, as well as how La Palapa became as an integral part of the Southside community.
